Trixie Williams, Vice President Clinical, Rehabilitation, and Transitions, Providence Healthcare
In this Q&A, Trixie Williams, Vice President Clinical, Rehabilitation, and Transitions, reflects on the people who make Providence remarkable and why The Providence Way Walk & Roll is such a meaningful celebration of this community.
When you think about Providence what comes to mind first?
I immediately think about the people. Since starting in 2024, I've met so many patients, residents, families, volunteers, and staff whose resilience and compassion have stayed with me. Seeing someone regain independence after rehabilitation or witnessing the kindness our teams show every day reminds me why Providence is such a special place.
What makes Providence such a special place to you?
When I first joined, post-acute care was a whole new world for me. What I’ve discovered is that Providence is truly a hidden gem. I’ve been inspired by the remarkable work that happens here every day helping people regain independence, restore confidence, and find hope after illness or injury. It’s opened my eyes to the incredible impact of care that often happens outside the spotlight. Providence has shown me that healing doesn’t end when someone leaves an acute care hospital. Instead, it continues here, through compassion, skill, and commitment to each person’s journey.
What is one thing you wish more people understood about Providence?
I wish more people knew just how much happens here. Providence isn’t simply the next stop after an acute hospital stay…it’s where lives are rebuilt. Whether it’s rehabilitation, palliative care, long-term care, or helping someone regain confidence after illness or injury, the impact of this work is extraordinary.
What are you proudest of when you think about the people of Providence?
Without question, it’s their compassion. Every day I see people who genuinely care about one another and about those they serve. They celebrate the small victories, support families through difficult moments, and never lose sight of the human side of healthcare. That’s something to be incredibly proud of.
What does donor support make possible for patients, residents, families, and staff?
Donor support helps turn great care into exceptional care. It provides opportunities to invest in equipment, programs, education, and spaces that make recovery, comfort, and quality of life even better. Every donation helps create experiences that patients, residents, families, and staff truly feel and appreciate.
How does community support help Providence continue to provide compassionate, personalized care?
Community support reminds us that we’re all in this together. It allows us to invest in the things that make care more personal, more innovative, and more responsive to individual needs. It’s inspiring to see so many people believe in Providence and want to help our patients and residents thrive.
Why is The Providence Way Walk & Roll meaningful to you?
It’s so much more than a fundraising event. It’s a celebration of community, resilience, and hope. Everyone who participates is helping ensure that Providence can continue providing outstanding care for people when they need it most. It’s a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish together.
What do you hope people feel when they take part in this event?
I hope they leave feeling connected to Providence, to one another, and to the difference they’re making. Whether you’re walking, rolling, volunteering, or cheering people on, you're part of something bigger. I hope everyone walks away with a smile and a sense of pride.
What kind of energy do you hope people bring to the day?
I hope people bring joy, encouragement, and lots of enthusiasm. This is a chance to celebrate our community while supporting an incredible cause. I hope there’s plenty of laughter, connection, and maybe even a little friendly competition as we cheer each other on.
What are some creative ways you’re raising funds for the event?
I’m reaching out to colleagues, friends, and family to share why Providence means so much to me. Sometimes it’s as simple as having a conversation or sharing a story about the incredible work happening here. Those personal connections often inspire people to get involved and support the cause.
What would you say to someone who has never fundraised before?
Don’t overthink it. Just share why this matters to you. People respond to authenticity, and every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. You might be surprised how many people want to help once they understand the impact they’re making.
What are you most looking forward to on September 26?
I’m looking forward to seeing our Providence community come together in one place. There’s something truly special about seeing patients, families, staff, volunteers, donors, and supporters all celebrating a shared purpose. It’s a day filled with hope, gratitude, and community and I’m excited to be part of it.
